Mount Edgcumbe
Tucked away on the The Common, the Mount Edgcumbe offers a chance to step out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a few hours, and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of a top class restaurant set within a buzzing brasserie-style environment. The quaint bar, crafted out of weatherworn coastal oak offers a selection of varied libations from a collection of Highland malts to the locally brewed ales. Anyone who is a seasoned bitter drinker is now able to enjoy guest ales from the bar, along with the traditional locally brewed Harveys of Lewes, and Lagers of Peroni, Kronenberg 1664, Kirin Ichiban, Staropramen and Fosters. Also on tap are Guinness, Strongbow Cider and Fruli - a Strawberry Beer. A range of popular bottled beers is also available and complements those on tap. The exciting and extensive wine list provides the serious diner with a choice second to none and there are nine house wines available by the glass to satisfy the palate. Fridges brimming with soft drinks, and bottled waters allow children and those driving the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful drink also. A great choice of bar meals, starters and main courses are available to enjoy in either the restaurant or the bar, inviting both formal and informal dining, and with the increased popularity of its lunchtime menu, the Mount Edgcumbe can cater for business people on a limited lunch break. Added to this, the Mount Edgcumbe's terrace and garden area, complete with tables, chairs and umbrellas, is ideal for al fresco dining. There are wonderful views across the common and it is hard to believe that this oasis of tranquillity is just yards from the busy centre of Tunbridge Wells. |
